| Antique and collector cars, trucks and motorcycles from all across the Wiregrass Region and beyond will roll into Dothan, Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 for the 26th Annual Antique and Collector Car Show. The event is one of the largest car shows in the region and will be held at Dothan's 100-acre Landmark Park. Over 150 vehicles are expected to be on display in 45 different classes. The 45 classes include A-Models, antique and modified Mustangs, Chevrolets, Camaros and Firebirds, Street Rods, Muscle Cars, antique motorcycles and scooters, foreign cars, Late Great Chevy's, and more. Muscle Cars of 1964-1973 will be this year's featured vehicle and will be showcased around the park's Victorian-styled gazebo. Awards will be given in each class, for the club with the most participation, Best of Show, longest vehicle driven, and for the oldest vehicle registered. The car show is hosted by the Wiregrass Antique and Collector Car Club and all proceeds will benefit Landmark Park, a not-for-profit organization. Visitors can view the cars from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. "The Wiregrass Antique and Collector Car Club does a tremendous job putting on this show each year", stated William Holman, Executive Director of Landmark Park. "Through their dedicated efforts, the club has generated over $100,000 for the park over the last 24 years. That's quite an achievement for a club their size" he stated. One of the reasons for the success of this show is the unique atmosphere of Landmark Park. The 100-acre park features an 1890s living history farmstead, a turn-of-the-century general store, drugstore/doctors's office, one-room school, and church, as well as nature trails, wildlife exhibits, an interpretive center and planetarium, playground, shaded picnic area and more. In addition to the display area, there will be a "Car Corral" for vehicles that are for sale and a "Swap Meet" area where booth spaces will be available for vendors selling auto-related parts and accessories. There will also be a children's area across from the park's "The Barnyard" playground with a variety of activities planned for the youngsters. The pre-registration fee to enter a vehicle in the show is $12 per car until September 28. After that date, the fee is $15 per car. Vendor booths must be reserved prior to the show. Vehicles can be registered the day of the show from 8 a.m.until 11:30 a.m. To receive a registration form, please contact the park office at 334-794-3452. The Antique and Collector Car Show is sponsored by Durden Outdoor, WDHN-TV 18 and The Big Dog 96.9 FM. Landmark Park is located on U.S. Highway 431, three miles north of Dothan's Ross Clark Circle. Admission to the Car Show is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-15, and free for park members and children 3 years old and under. Concessions will also be available.
